3 months @ GIKI

Just before my FSC exams ~28th March 2001 I moved to GIKI and started the formal preparations for my FSC exam. This was a turning point in my career and has the most influence on my bid for top Engineering universities.

It was a tough time I must say....Studying for 10-12 hours a day with no access to internet/phone or any other potential distraction....I had an electric heater and a pot...with enough supplies I was taking 7-8 cups of Tea every day :D

This was a time when I developed liking for GIKI. especially the GIKI lifestyle. The place provides you excellent oppurtunity to groom as person in general and a professional in particular.

There I met some very interesting people.... Zamurd Khattak..Adnan Noor B6..Dr Fida y Khattak..Fayyaz (Canteen wala) .. Majid Khan B7..Shaista Khan (GIKI bus driver) ..Dr Badar Suleman (Ask Waqar for details :P)

Mixed feelings about IMCB F-7/3

Soon after the Metric results...I started thinking about the college. It was a fascinating feeling on freedom, yet quit disturbing when I realized the importance of studies @ College.

My personal choice was Islamia College Peshawer, which was ruled out by my family on grounds of Unhealthy academic environment, involment of politics in education...risk of living @ pesh and dozens of other reasons :(

My Option2 was Behria College E9 which too was dismissed by my mom (thanks to the compelling arguments of Anti Tahira about the atmosphere and the likely-hood of getting spoiled in the Co-Education system :(:(:(:(:( I didnt agree with the arguments but yaa thats life...the Lobby was too strong :P

I had to make a final choice between the ICB/IMCBs. After some brainstorming along with Shoaib Wazir (My school Pal) I decided to join IMCB F.7/3

I still get mixed feelings about my decision....It was a disappointment from academics point of view. I had to struggle all the way in order to keep the pace of studies. The best part of the story is that... I met alot of very good friends...here are a few names.... Raza Ranjha..Fatir Sethi..Faraz Azhar..Umer (baba) ..Shehnam...Usman Humayun..shariq..Hamid..Ahmed Jawd..Tariq Asghar..Muzammil..Fawad..Saad jamal..Umer Shafai..Toaha Ahmed..Waqas bin Alam..Waqas Butt..Umer Hameed..not to forget the one and only ADIL MUMTAZ

Long live my friends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Latamber to Khuzdar and finally settling in Islamabad

My journey starts from a small village Latamber in North-West Pakistan, where I was born on 31st March 1983.

1987 : My father Javed Iqbal and Mother Shoakat Ara moved to Khuzdar along my other Siblings. I only remember a dim picture of the expedition across Pakistan.

Khuzdar was a difficult place to live. Far off from the main stream, with inadequate facilities and poor infrastructure. Every now and then powerful earthquake triggered evacuation and eventually forced the residents to live in shelters.

1988 : After spending an year in Khuzdar, we moved back to Latamber in 1988. Myself and my elder brother got admission in a primary school. I attended the school for only one year but still remember quit a few things.. My Pals.....Naveed...Faheem..Haqai..Taani..Ishabuddin.. Teachers...Imdadi Sir..Mir Gul Istoz (Share nice memories about him...because he use to bring black pepper candies for all of us *ting*)and so on .. Good memory na!!

Just one year into school and my family decided to move ------->> It was Islamabad, the Federal Capital. New place, different culture, different faces. It took a while to get adjusted into a predominantly Punjabi Community :P
